Snowboarding

I started this week on the mountain!!!! I finally got out this past Sunday to go snowboarding. I have not been out in 2 years. I often snowboard with my girlfriend as I think we have similar riding style and skill. Plus we needed some girl time. The snow was decent, but the visibility was not good at the top. It was windy and snowing. It got better the further down you went on the slopes, but it wasn’t great....

Life Lesson #3

I finally added to the boarding section on my blog! I started this week boarding at Sunshine in Banff, Alberta. I love getting out to the mountains and I think I was in need of the fresh air, after the cold weather we have had. If you want to hear more check out my post ‘Snowboarding’ under Nature. One of my highlights of the week was a new saying I picked up from a girlfriend “that sounds like a you...

Life Lesson #2

My biggest accomplishment this week was finally being able to do a tripod-headstand in yoga! I have been attempting this over the past few years in yoga classes but I have not been able to do it unassisted. This past Wednesday I did it in class. I felt great! Inversions are hard for me and I have been building strength to be able to do them. This is just the first of many in which I hope to accomplish this...

First Journal Entry

So I said I would start journaling every day and do a summary once a week. These are going to be vary personal. I shall summarize my past week. I want to learn and grow from these submissions to my blog. So here it goes…… Christmas break was stressful because all I wanted to do was have peace and quiet. I was vary clear to everyone in my family, that I spoke to, that I did not want to host Christmas...

New Year & New Goals

I have actually written quite a bit lately but I am not ready to share. I have been basically journaling on the back end. I find this has been helpful with trying to get my thoughts out. My thoughts are things I have been questioning. Not that they are correct but that I have asked myself and I am searching out answers. I hope to share some of these thoughts in the future but they are just to raw to...

Sauna’s & Steam rooms

I have always been fascinated with them and enjoy spending time in them. They are hard to find in Calgary. I had my first experience while living across the globe. If you are ever in Australia, visiting Bondi beach I would recommend going for a sauna at “Bondi Icebergs The Club”. It is a place that stuck with me and I will never forget. It was a place in between work I could re-charge. It was a great place to go...

Running a 1/2 Marathon

Last weekend I ran my first 1/2 Marathon! I have never felt so accomplished. I knew I would push myself to finish but it was crazy how it tests you physically and mentally. A 1/2 marathon is 21.1km. I have always wanted to be able to run one and with support, encouragement and being inspired by friends who have done them before I finally signed up! I have to start with the fact I finished!!! I give props to anyone who...

Craft Beer is All The Rage

While visiting Jasper this summer we stumbled upon a craft brewery in Hinton just east of Jasper, Alberta Canada. It had just opened and it was fantastic! If you are visiting the area I would highly recommend the drive. The menu is simple and the beer was refreshing. Folding Mountain Brewing As a designer I am always looking at the layout and the finishes. I honestly can’t help myself. I love the black brick tile they used with the warm...

Canyoning in Jasper Alberta, Canada

My first taste of canyoning was last year while visiting Portugal. I fell in love with it. Canyoning is basically repelling. It is a technical descend down a canyon, often through waterfalls using ropes and carabiners. It is a controlled vertical drop. At the same time you get to take in stunning views where water has formed the rock around you. How could I not love it as it combines some of my favourite things hiking, water and adventure! So we...

Crypt Lake Hike – Waterton

Rated one of the worlds most thrilling hikes I had to try it. We booked a few nights in Waterton so that we could get up early and catch the ferry which takes you to the beginning of the hike. In 2014 National Geographic rated this hike as one of the World’s 20 Most Thrilling Trails!  The hike begins on the other side of Upper Waterton Lake. To get there you have to book the ferry ride over. This costs $25.00...
